On the first day of Christmas, Santa gave me....

Dear Santa and A Christmas Story WEEK on the blog! Welcome blog readers...if you missed the 'teaser' post last week, which was a fabulous video tutorial for a Paper Christmas Tree, check it out HERE.

Today, DT member Tami Sanders is sharing a tutorial for this fabulous Door Hanger using BOTH the Dear Santa and A Christmas Story collections-she needed to make one of these to ensure she could wrap the Christmas presents without interuptions!

1. Starting with a plain wood door hanger, adhere the papers and stickers. Use a file to remove the excess paper and ink the edges.

2. Adhere the Santa to a piece of cardstock and cuto out. Add some glitter to the Santa's hat and cuffs.

3.Cover a wood tag with patterned paper. Stamp the "stay out" phrase and hand write the remaining words on kraft paper in red pen. Distress the edges with ink.

4. Embellish with baker's twine, more glitter and jingle bells and YOU'RE DONE!

A FANTASTIC fall banner...

This fabulous fall banner was created by Design Team member Tami Sanders. She chose the beautiful HARVEST collection for this creation.

Love how each piece combines more than one of the fabulous patterened papers in the collection and the paper seams are hidden by the Harvest border stickers!

Here's a close up of one of the banner pieces:

Some ColorBox chestnut roan ink on the edges of the leaves adds to the distressed look and the raffia bows and jute ties finish off the banner perfectly!

Paper Pumpkin Tutorial...featuring HARVEST!

Last week's sneak peek of the NEW Reminisce HARVEST collection included some paper pumpkins created by DT member Tami Sanders....there were so many inquiries about how they were made, Tami was kind enough to write up a picture tutorial and share it with the Reminisce blog readers!

The pumpkins are made like the old, vintage honeycomb decorations...

1. Create a template for 1/2 a pumpkin using chipboard and cut it out.

    

2. Cut 5 papers the height of the pumpkin and twice the width. So if your half pumpkin template measures 6" high and 3" wide, you would cut five 6 X 6 pieces of paper.

3. Fold each paper down the center so that the height of your template is the same as the height of the folded papers.

4. Trace the template on each folded paper, with the center of the template aligned on the folded edge. Cut them out.

5. Glue the folded pieces back to back, stacking them on top of each other. Continue adding and adhering pieces to the top of the stack, keeping the center folded edges straight.

6. Glue the chipboard template piece to the top of the stack. (In the samples, there was an extra 1/2 piece of paper cut to cover the chipboard piece...in the pictures below, the chipboard piece is bare, so that it remains visible).

7. Bring the back piece around to meet the chipboard piece to form the pumpkin.

8. Punch holes in the chipboard and back piece.

9. Lace ribbons or twine through the holes to keep the pumpkin together.

10. The stems were cut from cardstock with a 1-1.5 inch slit cut up the center of each stem. Slide the stem onto the pumpkin.

That's it! And since the pieces fold right up, you can store them without damage for next year!

Welcome to 4th of July week!

Reminisce is getting an early start on the Independence day holiday. Here's a layout by DT member Tami Sanders using the 4th/DC 2 in 1 paper collection...

Tami was kind enough to provide some step-by-step instructions (with pictures) for making the pinwheels on her layout...super fun and super easy summer embellishments!

1) start with 1 square of cardstock and 2 squares of printed paper
{3 & 3 ½ squares were used in sample}.

 
2) adhere the printed paper squares to the front and back of the cardstock square.     

3) use a ruler to lightly pencil diagonal lines across square in both directions to make and “x”

4) then cut along each line, stopping about ¾” from the center.

 
5) after the lines are cut; erase pencil marks.

6) decide which pattern you want to be the “main” color, in this case the stripe, and place that side up.
then fold down the point – either the left or the right one to the center.

 
7) fold down the next point (same side as before).
 
8) and continue until all points have been folded.

 
9) place a sizable “glob” of glue at the center of the square and on the underside of each point.
(use a quick grab, fast setting glue)
 
10) also put a good amount of glue on the back of your button.
 
11) fold all points back down, top with button and hold until glue sets.

Add to your project and ENJOY!
