On the first day of Christmas, Santa gave me....

Dear Santa and A Christmas Story WEEK on the blog! Welcome blog readers...if you missed the 'teaser' post last week, which was a fabulous video tutorial for a Paper Christmas Tree, check it out HERE.

Today, DT member Tami Sanders is sharing a tutorial for this fabulous Door Hanger using BOTH the Dear Santa and A Christmas Story collections-she needed to make one of these to ensure she could wrap the Christmas presents without interuptions!

1. Starting with a plain wood door hanger, adhere the papers and stickers. Use a file to remove the excess paper and ink the edges.

2. Adhere the Santa to a piece of cardstock and cuto out. Add some glitter to the Santa's hat and cuffs.

3.Cover a wood tag with patterned paper. Stamp the "stay out" phrase and hand write the remaining words on kraft paper in red pen. Distress the edges with ink.

4. Embellish with baker's twine, more glitter and jingle bells and YOU'RE DONE!

Grandma's Brag Book {coin envelope mini album tutorial} & Prize Pack Winners!!!

Supplies:

Adhesive

Scissors

5 Coin Envelopes 3 1/2 x 2 1/4

10 pieces FAMILY PRIDE paper 3 3/8 x 2 1/8

3 Brown Cardstock 3 1/4 x 2

Brown Ink Pad

9 photos 2x3 for album pages

6 additional photos for inserts

FAMILY PRIDE Stickers

 

Instructions:

1. Take two of the coin envelopes and adhere one of the flaps to the back side of the other envelope.

 

2. Adhere the remaining flap to the back of the third envelope.

   3. Repeat for the 4th and 5th envelopes.

4. Seal down the last flap.

5. Cut approximately 1/8 inch off the outside edge of the second, third, and fourth envelopes. This will create the pockets for the inserts.

 
 

6. Adhere the 10 pieces of FAMILY PRIDE paper to the front and back of each album page.
7. Ink the edges.
 
 

8. Add your photos to the album pages.
9. Add your photos and stickers to the brown card stock inserts.
10. Add the inserts to the envelope pocket pages.
11. Send to Grandma!

Fall Flower Frenzy...{paper flower tutorial}

Welcome back to "Loving my Leftovers" week...today's project features a paper flower created from leftover scraps of Harvest papers...this is a fun, easy (and inexpensive) way to make perfectly coordinated embellishments for any project!

Here's what you will need:

2 small punched circles (these are 1.25 inch), a mix of thin paper strips (approximately 6 iinch long, up to 3/8 inch thick), an adhesive machine.

Apply adhesive to one side of each of the punched circles. Start laying out the paper strips, adhering one end to the center of one of the punched circles (with the adhesive side up).

Stop when you have covered half of the punched circle. Begin looping the loose ends of the paper strips onto the other half of the punched circle. The ends of the paper strip should meet in the middle.

Flatten the loop gently.

Continue until all the paper strips have been looped and flattened.

Adhere the other punched paper circle on top of the flower and 'fluff' the paper strips to add some dimension back to the flower.

Add to your project and embellish as needed...the flower on the thank you card was embellished with a stamped paper flower and a premade tulle flower.

Another reason to HANG ON to those scraps!

TUTORIAL-Altered Straw Hat

Tami Sanders created a beautiful Altered Straw hat with the NEWEST Reminisce release, In Bloom.

Here's how she did it...

1) Cut about 95 flowers from In Bloom papers.

2) Cover 6 - 2” to 3” chipboard flowers with In Bloom papers.

3) Bend up the petals of all of the paper and chipboard flowers to add shape and dimension.

4) Layer and adhere some of the paper flowers in the centers of the chipboard flowers.

5) Cut 2 – 2 ¼ X 6 pieces of kraft cardstock and 2 – 2 X 6 pieces of The Colors of Spring printed paper. adhere green side up down center of kraft pieces. then cut 2 – 1 X 6 pieces of Spring is in the Air and adhere light side up down center of green strips. then cut aqua flowers strip from 12 X 12 sticker sheet in half and adhere down center. Dovetail one end of each strip {one strip is slightly shorter in sample} and adhere to back of hat as “ribbons”.

6) Adhere chipboard flowers at back of hat starting with a row of 3, then a row of 2 above it, and then top with the last chipboard flower.

7) Begin adhering paper flowers around crown of hat, beginning with largest flowers, and working down to the smaller ones. only use a dab of glue at the centers of each flower to adhere, so you can easily tuck flowers behind previously adhered ones to layer.

8) Use as a centerpiece on a table or add a ribbon or hole to the top of the hat to hang on the door.
